Crossing Thoughts

A poem about improbable romanticism

When there’s rules in place,
To keep the two away,
And the mind still follows its chase,
Of the improbable embrace.

No words can be shared,
No truths can be told,
Thus no aches can be spared,
No matter how they’re scared.

Sounds from the window to the inside,
Is all that they can hear.
After everything they tried,
’Tis all that they can hold dear.

Other than that, they’re mute,
To keep the worst away,
Though still questioning the route,
While other choices still remain moot.

They float in questions about self and them,
Only hoping to cross each other’s thought,
Only wishing not give up their gem,
But, crossing thoughts… are all they’ve got.
